School for Life
Our private grammar school for holistic education was founded in 1854 by the Cistercian Abbey of Wettingen-Mehrerau. The private grammar school has public status and is organised according to the curricula of the Austrian school system. Our schools stand for diversity and are open to pupils of all nationalities.
For Girls and Boys
We have been breaking new ground since the 2016/17 school year. We are not only opening the doors of our private grammar school to girls, but are also giving our education a new direction - starting with the first years of grammar school. This is an important step in the reorganisation of Collegium Bernardi.
Lower School - Being Active and Creative
Learning to discover and develop requires creativity and movement. Marvelling at new things is a top priority in the lower school. We take advantage of our proximity to Lake Constance to experience nature, go swimming or simply let off steam. In the lower school, we deliberately refrain from prematurely focussing on a specific subject, instead encouraging children's creativity in handicraft and music lessons. Team spirit and community experience as well as social skills are our main focus.
Upper School - Mankind, Nature, Society
In the upper school, the aim is to apply the knowledge acquired in - and for - society. Those who know themselves and their role in the social community can develop themselves and their environment and are capable of innovation (society, health, environment, etc.). The focus is on current topics that are directly related to today's world. Being human, health, social issues, nature and society. The implementation of these topics takes place in lessons and in individualised courses (elective subjects) such as the practice of natural sciences, nutrition, psychology or medicine. Traditional values such as respect, openness and responsibility are also encouraged and promoted.
